As time goes by, the way the world sees art changes. Fashion from the 90’s is much different from fashion from now. The same thing happens with graphic design.

One trend that I have noticed is the simplification of logos. Earlier in time, logos were often moderately detailed, often using gradients and shadows. As of lately, many companies have been rebranding and simplifying their logos and branding. For example, Google’s logo went from being a serif font, having something of a 3D effect almost, using gradients to show depth. It was rebranded to use a clean san serif font, with flat colors. This makes everything look cleaner and fresher.

I’ve noticed myself doing similar things when making my own logos. I tend to try to use flat colors and clean simple designs.
